The court heard that in May of this year, a man from a British online pharmacy sold fake and unlicensed Viagra, which he was using as a ‘prescription’ for a medical device called a ‘barcode’. The fake Viagra was being marketed as a ‘super-prescription’ for male erectile dysfunction, and was purchased online.
The court heard that the man was found guilty of buying fake Viagra from an online seller. The seller then had an undercover operation, which involved a customer posing as a licensed pharmacy in passing on a prescription to the seller, which the seller then sold to the buyer. The buyer then purchased the fake Viagra from the seller and sold it to the buyer for a substantial sum, £40,000.
A judge ordered the sale of the fake Viagra to the seller on condition that the buyer pay him a fine of £25,000.
